Copywriters at Grizzly are experts in brand communication who work from concept to finished copy on all assigned projects. S/he will work across brand/digital/communication projects in a wide variety of industries. S/he will collaborate closely with strategists, designers, brand managers, and agency leadership, as well as client stakeholders, and execute on multiple projects simultaneously. In all her/his work, the copywriter will ensure strategic, people-centric, fearless, thoughtful, and detail-oriented design that solves client challenges in order to meet business outcomes.
Strategy and Collaboration

Contributes ideas to generate more client activity beyond normally scheduled projects.
Meets copy deadlines, or secures advance approval from the AE/CD if additional time is needed.
Monitors the progress of assigned projects through each phase of development, i.e., layout, production, media, and research.
Maintains a reasonable library of own reference material relating to assigned clients.
Compelling, Creative Communication
Manage assigned design tasks and projects from start to finish, ensuring successful project completion against deadlines.
Contribute to creative thought leadership for our team and clients.
Approach projects and concept development with strategic thinking.
Provide thoughtful communication solutions after a thorough analysis of the problem and the audience you’re writing for.
Translate client briefs and internal strategy into clear and focused ideas & narratives.
Create highly-effective and meaningful copy across a variety of deliverables (including, but not limited to brand messaging/positioning, tone & voice, concept/story development, web content, marketing content, product/service messaging, ad copy, and scriptwriting).
Execute net-new copy development as well as copy editing and proofing.
Prioritize work on multiple projects while staying organized, meticulous, and motivated.

Know the current branding and advertising landscape, and be aware of historical precedents and new trends.
Maintain working knowledge and proficiency in all relevant technologies.
Contribute to Grizzly’s growth by supporting projects, initiatives, and fellow teammates.

5+ years of professional copywriting experience.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Proven experience developing ideas and creating compelling stories.
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent presentation skills that encompass clear, compelling communications.
Proven ability to work cross-functionally with all agency personnel in developing plans, recommendations, and deliverables.
Deep understanding of branding and brand communication as well as digital experiences and marketing campaigns.
Strong conceptual and brainstorming skills.
Ability to work collaboratively as well as independently.
Solicits and implements feedback from CD and provides constructive feedback to others.
Excellent listening skills, with the ability to understand the needs of the client and the intended audience.
Meets copy deadlines, or secures approval from the AE/CD if additional time is needed.
Displays professional courtesy to clients and co-workers; is considerate of their work and schedules.
San Diego-based preferred, but not required.
Flexibility with schedule to meet client commitments.
Domestic and international travel may be required.
