Senior Strategist

POSITION SUMMARY 
The Senior Strategist is a key contributor to the success and experience of client relationships, as well as the development of strategic insights and ideas that solve Grizzly’s client challenges. Through in-depth research and discovery, s/he builds the strategic framework to guide each client towards brand/product innovation. Working cross-departmentally with project teams, the Senior Strategist ensures the project stays on-strategy and solves our client’s core business challenges. Ultimately, this individual serves as a trusted advisor to clients and a secret weapon for the agency. The Senior Strategist has three primary areas of responsibility:

PLAN / ANALYZE / EVALUATE

  • Contribute to the development of budgets, work plans, and timelines
  • Collaborate with Producers and Creative leads on planning and recommendations for clients
  • Oversee and/or contribute to the development of project plans and creative briefs
  • Review, analyze, and evaluate the following, relative to the client’s needs and objectives: brand strategy, media output, creative output, research reports and client data
  • Define project scope, estimate and writing proposals, works with producer in the creation of project specifications and time plans
  • Develop project vision, plan, and strategy while providing leadership, accountability, and mentorship to project team
  • Understand business objectives, challenges, and opportunities of target and industry
  • Understand and analyze brand personas, position, and consumer journeys
  • Design, Lead, and execute consumer, competitor, and market research efforts during new business initiatives and project discovery phases
  • Evaluate client opportunities based on brand discovery and research and present clear paths for brand action


DISCOVER / POSITION / CREATE

  • Synthesize consumer, competitor, and cultural research to discover unique insights and opportunities for clients
  • Define fundamental strategy and positioning for clients, building on client vision and Grizzly research to create/transform belief-driven brands that act with bravery and create belonging
  • Develop integrated marketing strategies and communications plans to meet and exceed the client’s marketing and business objectives
  • Contribute and provide research, analysis, and insights into latest cultural & industry trends
  • Maintain, grow and develop existing client accounts, fostering trust with clients and creating opportunity for the agency
  • Develop in collaboration with the agency team, innovative and/or differentiating ideas, products, and services.
  • Position agency’s strategic services with clarity and develop unique/repeatable strategic processes
  • Contribute to agency marketing and culture efforts

 

LEADING / COORDINATING / CONTRIBUTING

  • Lead and manage new business and client presentations as assigned
  • Manage assigned agency strategy efforts and projects, involved with projects from start to finish, ensuring successful project completion against deadlines
  • Work with all departments to develop integrated solutions and expand the services Impact provides to clients
  • Manage long term properties including: positioning development, marketing plans, timeline, and roadmap planning
  • Manage measurement, analytics, data gathering, and reporting for clients’ and agency
  • Develop and implement new processes to increase efficiencies and effectiveness of research, measurement, and strategy work for teams
  • Represent the agency at conferences, events, and symposiums
  • Help lead research initiatives and manage outside consultants
  • Connect with and follow key industry influencers, talent, and thought leaders
  • Provide strategic branding thought leadership and expertise to expand business relationships
  • Monitoring and enforcing strategic program risk and constraints (schedule / scope / resources)
  • Champion internal systems to improve project delivery and efficiency

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • MBA preferred, or Masters in Marketing, commensurate experience with a BS or BA will be considered
  • Interest in and aptitude for creative business and marketing solutions
  • Minimum of five years experience brand/marketing/communications strategy experience in integrated, brand and digital communications
  • Highly motivated, with a proven track record of building clients and expansion of client accounts
  • Ability to identify strategic needs, lead all aspects of planning with sound business recommendations, and generate alignment with key business partners
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills that encompass clear, compelling communications
  • Ability to manage multiple business initiatives in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Expert knowledge of all functional agency departments, capabilities, and service areas
  • Deep understanding of a wide range of industries, markets and brands, and what it takes to stand out and service them
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills
  • Flexibility with schedule to meet client commitments, traveling as required
  • Great project management abilities
  • Self-motivated and willing to expand knowledge
  • Ability to self-manage while managing assigned teams and projects

 

WORK REQUIREMENTS

Flexibility with schedule to meet client commitments.

Domestic and international travel may be required.
